About April Zaidi

April Zaidi I'm a painter, synesthete, gardener, photographer, free spirit and mother of four. For me, art isn't something I create, it's the language I speak. Each piece is either poetic, provocative or a direct representation of a sensory experience.

I am deeply influenced by nature in my paintings and photography. Landscapes and animals are featured throughout my work, with a focus on details and behaviors that often go unnoticed. I tend to use a feminine viewpoint to more intimately express emotion.

My paintings vary in style from post-impressionism, surrealism, realistic portraiture and symbolism while my photography is most often from a macro viewpoint. By focusing on the many miniature melodramas around us, we can somehow feel part of something larger than ourselves. It's this great spiritual connection that I try to communicate through my art. This is my native tongue.
